Since upgrading to Legato Networker 6.0.2 I'm having trouble with my autochanger. I have pools set up to only use specific tape drives and since the upgrade if all of the tape drives are empty when a backup group starts Networker will choose a tape drive that the pool cannot be mounted on and keep trying to mount it there until finally the backup group times out and fails. If the tape drives already have tapes in them Legato will eject a tape from the correct tape drive and mount the requested tape on the correct tape drive.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I've been talking to Legato support but haven't gotten a lot of help yet.

Yes, I've seen this behaviour in 6.0.1. It's a known bug and was supposedly fixed in 6.0.2. The only way to get around it seems to be to manually load a tape in the drive before leaving the office... If the that tape drive only is allowed to handle the one pool that shouldn't be a problem (although it's REALLY annoying... ;) ).

Good luck!

Hi,

It's strange that you're seeing this in 6.02.. Like Matts, I've seen this behavior in verisons proior to 6.01, but since upgrading to 6.02, this behavior has ceased on all our servers. What build of 6.02 are you using?
