autocad wipeout / text masking won't transfer to pdf

I have a technique I now use and it is this;

1. Plot from AutoCAD to PDF
2. in Acrobat, save to tiff and close
3. reopen tiff save to eps and close
4. Open from advanced bar- distiller. In distiller open .EPS file
5. .EPS saves to PDF and you’re done.

The tiff file is very large. An average drawing of say 450k will save as a 4500k file or 4.5MB. So you have to run it through distiller to get the file size back down. Distiller only accepts .EPS or .ps file types so, you have to save to .EPS.

Now open distiller and then open your .EPS version. Let it run through it’s paces and presto! You can now plot this puppy without big black boxes! Moreover, a file size of about 900k instead of 4500k.

It sounds like a lot but really it just takes about 20 minutes.
