Hello,

First off let me start off by saying I have no knowledge of AutoCAD other than being able to print out a drawing. Our in-house guy that does our CAD drawings has a somewhat limited knowledge of AutoCAD 14 that we use. My basic question is, can dimensions be calculated based upon user input? For instance, I have a drawing of a bookcase, if I know the size of the face frame, can I input a width measurement and then have it automatically calculate an inside dimension for me? I'm not asking that the drawing "resize" itself, just to fill in the blanks for me on certain dimensions.

Thanks,
Raymond

PS: Our in house CAD guy also owns the company. :)

Hi Raymond,

Sort of..., this is a task better suited for SolidWorks or Inventor maybe even Mechanical Desktop, but what you are aksing for will require some code as vanilla AutoCAD simply won't do this.

Sorry if that's no help.
Todd
