autocad not recognizing images: not on screen, not printing

AutoCAD 14: images are no longer working: I get an outline on the screen.i have looked through help and tried proxy graphics options, but it didn't work.I reinstalled autocad, but this still is a problem. RELATED?: when I lost image function, I lost Match Prop too.When I enter either command (by clicking the icon or by typing the text command), I get a message Unknown Command" WHY?

when you use ddmodify and select an image, is the show image box checked? [sig][/sig]
