I have a user who created a drawing in ACAD lt98, the drawing contained a closed PLine with an area value of 39,158. The drawing was recently opened in ACAD 2002lt and the area measured, but this time the result is 11,987 And just to check, the drawing was opened again in both apps and had the same false results.
Both measurements are in meters squared, and all units are the same. Another example was just created, where the user constructed a closed Pline in lt98 and opened in 2002lt (both examples on a different machine) and again the results of the measurements were way off.
Has anyone any ideas of what's happening!?!?
thanks! Jay~

AutoCAD was known to have area calculation problems in some cases in earlier versions, I believe it was when the pline contained arcs/bulges, and another part of the pline crossed into the interior of the bulge. I would hope that this was corrected in 2000 and that the 98 version is wrong. You can probably find out which one is accurate (maybe neither?) with such a discrepancy you're finding.

Unfortunatly it is the lt98 version that is correct, and the 2002lt version that is in correct!
I have discovered that if I do the calc in the layout tab in paperspace (not clicked into the vport) and measure it using the select point option and not object selection, that the area comes out wrong....
I will be asking the client if this is the meathod that he is using......
thanks for the help... Jay~
