I can see them but there is no option to turn them on or off. $#$#$@%@$@
I shut them all off to show a render which has a Black background.
Argh!!!
Used to be a check box next to them.

In 2006 there have been many changes, some you may or may not like. If you know the name of the toolbar, try typing -toolbar in the command line and you will have the option to turn it on or off, or you can right click on any toolbar and a list of all available toolbars will be available to turn on/off. Hope that helps.

Thank you
you are right I hate 2006
It is slow for one.
seems you have to click twice when in the 3D 4 views to make sure you are in the correct window before you do anything.
They changed an bunch of stuff but did not fix annoying things that have been there for years.

Do we need a new version of AutoCAD Every single year????

Doug,

Welcome to the subscription program. The bottom line for us end users is we want no bugs and increased speed, but that is not the case with 2006. Have a look at for some hints to help improve speed. In addition, set DTEXTED = 1 for better performance when editing text. It did help me some, but like you said, bugs that have been around for years still have not been fixed. Verion 2006 has been a big disappointment thus far.

I did some testing with 2005 and found that it crashed from time to time. I know there was a service pack for 2005 but I never applied it and wound up going back to using 2004 instead.
