I have loaded AutoCAD 2004. When the properties command is invoked there is a delay ( approx. 20 sec. ). When objects are selected there properties appear as normal, when these objects area de-selected there is another delay (the cursor and screen lock up). My company has just puchased 3 new computers all highspeed, mine is the only problem. We have tried uninstall / reinstall with no luck. I have even restored computer to original state and reloaded all software with no luck. Any help / suggestions welcome

Hi MMINC,

Don't know if this will help or not but try this link: Diagnose and fix problems that prevent display of Properties window.

If this doesn't sound as though it fits your problem, you may try these:

Uninstall and reinstall AutoCAD (if you decide to rebuild the machine, install AutoCAD last.)

Have your IT/IS department double check your rights to the machine, AutoCAD needs some access to areas that some IT departments don't always grant access.

In Thread687-989823 I gave some of the things I do for keeping AutoCAD "healthy". It's possible this could be some of your trouble.

A bit of a long shot, but I hope some of it will help.

thanks for reply TCARPENTER. I had been to opmstate link before with no luck. Still searching for solution. i do not believe uninstall/reinstall will help as we have tried that several times.

I stumbled on to the reason and fix sort of like stepping on a landmine. The reason: TOO MANY .CTB FILES. Apparently Properties reads through all the .ctb files each and every time it resets. I had two choices 1) reduce the numbers of .ctb files in the default location or 2) close the plot style section of the propoerties dialog upon opening it.
This problem ate up to beter part of two days tring to solve.
