We had a problem with Autocad 2002. Every time that anyone in our office does a page setup, plot, or an options, a dialog box comes up that says "unrecognized version and cannot be read". This dialog box has to buttons, OK and Cancel. It doesn't seem to matter which one is pressed because it goes on to do the plot, options or page setup with no apparent problems. It can become quite annoying when plotting though because it comes up when initiating the plot. It comes up twice when previewing, and twice when you click OK for the plot. Each time you have to respond to the dialog box. We have three machines in our office with ADT 3.3 which is a ACAD 2002 base product. They are all looking to the same files for Support, Fonts, ADT Content, Printer config search path, plot styles, and templates. All machines had plot stamp off. I have seen the article in the knowledge base that describes the unrecognized version dialog box when opening the plot dialog box. It is also happening with the page setup and options dialog box on our machines. The article has three solutions. 1. Edit the *.pss file in note pad to correct the version number. The version number in the file was identical to the correction. 2. Specify a different pss file. Tried that and no success. 3. do not enable plot stamping. We did not have it enabled, just plot logging, and have had it enabled for some time. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance MAx

Issue

The following error message is displayed when you open the Plot dialog box:

Unrecognized version and cannot be read

Solution

This error occurs because there is an incorrect version reference in the Plot Stamp Setting (PSS) file being used.

Use one of the following methods to resolve this problem:

Method #1

Edit the PSS file in Notepad and correct the version number. The first line of the PSS file should be as follows:
PIAFILEVERSION_2.0,plotstampcompress
Method #2

Specify a different PSS file that is not corrupt.
From the File menu, choose Plot.
In the Plot dialog box under Plot Stamp, select Settings and choose a different PSS file.
Method #3

Do not enable Plot Stamping.
