Hi
I have redhat 7.2 and would like to use VNC. I have the correct ip addresses and passwords. What I would like is a way so I can type in a console prompt say 'email' and have vnc automatically run and connect to the server.
Is this at all possible ?

Thanks
A

p.s. in the same way, is there a way to bring up web pages (saved on my hdd) by typing in a word in the console. I guess im looking for a way to associate aliases with programs starting (this I can do) but with opening a specific file or giving particular arguments.

You should be able to set up aliases using particular arguments an dparameters just as you would do it normally. Just make sure you have your quotes right. Here's an example (for bash):
alias 'aterm'='/usr/local/bin/aterm -ls -tr -sh 40 -fn 10x20'
You can also wrap up your program call in a shell script. Just put the command you want to run in a text file named 'email' and make it executable as you would with any other shell script.
