I have set up my file server to update DATS daily from NAI website. If I go to "update now", it will update no problem. When I try to schedule the job it allows me to set it all up but when I press OK and get back to the console, it says that the update is not scheduled and it won't automatically update.
This is a problem because half the machines on my network look to the file server to update their DATS.
Any clues why this would happen?

no idea
i have the same problem
when i make a manual pull task, that's work, but not the schedule task.

Which product? NetShield or VSE 7?

... been there, done that, made that mistake too, see where I am now.

It's a rights issue.

For VSE7, if the services are running as a LocalSystem Account, it may not have the appropriate rights to execute, but doing it manually uses the currently-logged-in account. Same thing with ePO. You'll probably need to specify an account to use for the task.

Make sure that you have the inherit unchecked and the enabled checked on the Task tab.

AVchap,

What service would it be that I would need to change the account I have looked in services but cannot see anything that relates to the autoupdate.

Do you mean in the autoupdate scedule task tab, put a username, domain and password in the user account settings?

mvas, those options that you specify are correct. (although there is no "inherit" on my console.

I have had exactly the same problem.

There are two solutions - one drstic and one not so bad.

The first and obvious is to completely re-install ePO.

The second is to clear ALL scheduled tasks, and then close ePO. If you are using SQL, shut this down, and stop services.

Now reboot the machine, go into ePO and re-create the schedules services.

I've had to do both, but now it is running so well, I don't even look at the thing anymore.

When you create the task, assign an account for the task to use. This should do the trick without recreating the tasks.
