We have just updated our 2K server to from GW6 SP1 to GW6 SP2.
All our clients were previously sp1, installed with the setup.cfg set to
"auto update" = No.

We therefore pointed the SDD in Console 1, to our F:\GW6Soft directory.
which all users have read and write access to.

None of the clients tried to update their software, so we checked the build
number of them. The SP2 buils is 2048 and The clients are 2028.

We also checked the bump number and the server is 3 and the clients is 0. We
changed the client to 1 and it started to look for updates but said it could
not access the directory. The users were domain admins so should be able to
see OK.

Why are the users on Bump = 0 and are we pointing the distribution SDD to
the right place??

We seem to have it set OK but it doesn't seem to work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Double check your drive mappings. Do your users see the same drive mapping you see? Under the F:\GW6Soft directory is the client software stored in a \CLIENT\WIN32 directory structure?

A quick work around would be to use the ZENworks 2.0 (thats the version of the last free copy Novell released); if your an NT house using NDS eDirectory this will still work. You can download it from Novell; or you may already have it. Use a clean workstation or the most stable workstation and make your Snap-Shot then just shoot the update down to the clients. Why do user go into a panic when a NetWare server goes down, but accept it as normal when a Windows server goes down?
