Hello, hello

Does anyone know if there is a possibility to define a script which starts automaticaly when someone logs in (for example over telnet) like in Windows??

We are using AIX 4.3 on an old RS/6000 Server.

Best regards
Raphael

you want to look at the .profile and /etc/profile files. The .profile file lives in the users home directory and is user specific. The /etc/profile is run by everyone except cron jobs. Beware when editing /etc/profile - it's all too easy to lock yourself out of the box - kepp a session logged in until you're convionced your edits work.

If there is a security issue eg you want to start logging, then .profile may not be the solution as most users will be able to amend/delete this either through a normal session or ftp. Use /etc/profile or if necessary you should be able to write a program and set the user's shell (chuser) to use it.
