has anyone used this feature ?
it seems to work absolutley fine with digital stations, but when you use it for ip phones it takes up to 50 seconds to register.
does anyone know if this is correct or should it be just as quick as a digital phone ?

Haven't personally tried if with IP phones just digital. I imagine it would take time because the phones would need to de-register with the UGW then re-register. I can try it sometime this week but I'd say this is the reason and that's just the way it is.

Why bother using this with IP phones anyway. Just take the phone with you and plug it in to any LAN point and it will keep your xtn number and all your details.

good call
but there are 60 users..customer wants them to login each time
maybe acd is the answer but they want their own ddi and mailbox
basically they want hot desk but on the cheap.

To use ACD as a hotdesking solution see Engineering Note R300MN1000 (Oct 16 2000) that describes how to do it. Basically you have an ACD group per 'agent'. All physical phones that will be used are members of all groups so any phone can log in to any of the groups. Name the group as 'John Smith' or whatever. Advertise the group number as the number they are contactable on eg group 500 is for John, if someone wants to contact John they call 500, he could be logged in to ACD group 500 on any phone and will get the call.

Having a DDI is easy, just send it to the ACD Dial Num. You can divert this ACD to a Public Library for voicemail too. The only thing is message waiting - they won't be able to be notified because it won't know which phone to turn the light on.

Haven't had a chance to try the Autoset Relocate on IP phones yet. But when you think about it, 50s out of your life isn't the end of the world! If it was 2-3mins then maybe but if you can't wait 50s then you've got more to worry about that your phone not working. :)

Thanks for that

the other big problem is that when the phone relocates it disconnects from the network , so if your pc is plugged into your phone that loses connection for a short tome as well.
this means that you could only relocate first thing in the morning maybe.
