I have a system that has an auto-generated serial primary key id number. Lately the system has NOT be auto creating these numbers - there are a little more than 20000. Does anyone know if there is an upper limit to the creation of these numbers?
If not can anyone suggest why this auto creation would stop working?

If your serial number has stopped working, then you probably have a corrupt index (look for a file of type .OYZ). If this .OYZ file for the database of the same name exists, the serial number will be stuck at some number you have already used.

You can try deleting the .OYZ file and the corrupt .ADX file and then open the .DBF file directly with Approach. This will create a new .ADX file. You will then need to set the serial number and repair the field names as they will be truncated to 10 characters.
