Hi
We run a Groupwise 6 (SP1) System and we suffer from a limitation described in TID10026465.
The Mail Relay Host at the HQ does not accept the format GroupWise uses when sending rule generated messages (autoreply).
No undeliverable message is received by the auto reply sender. There's only an error on the GWIA Screen (501 / 551).
This behaviour is known, as mentioned above, for Groupwise 5.x. I run a small GW6 system at home, and since I send directly to the internet, I have never experienced such a problem as we do here.
Now the TID offers no real solution, either
1. the mail relay should be configured to allow messages with a blank MAIL FROM: <> field in the envelope and a blank Return-path: <> field in the header, but this is not an option because of IT policy.
or 2.
We should configure our GWIA to send directly to the internet. This is not an option either.
Is this a Groupwise specific behaviour or would Exchange work in the same way? Is there a work-around?
I wouldn't like to inform users, that they cannot use a auto-reply feature only because we love Novell products and therefore didn't install an Exchange System.... ;-)
