Auto reply messages are blank. 1

We have tried for a while to set up auto reply messages in our emails for vacation time.
We create our message and save the draft. Create a rule for auto reply to use the saves template message. The reply works but everytime the message itself is blank, our template was not inserted. What are we missing?

Why dont you use the Out Of Office Assistant in Outlook?
Found in Tools->Out Of Office Assistant.

Pretty simple to use, but if you are using Exchange server and you want to reply to external email addresses too.......you have to enable Out Of Office replies to the Internet (external mail) in the connections of Exchange Server. Jay~

Is the template formatted in Plain Text? I am not certain if it is required for the Auto-Reply to work correctly but it certainly is the most compatible type for all mail clients.

It sounds like you are trying to do an Out of Office from a non Excahnge system. If so read the following article at MS:

You said you "save the draft". You need to Save as an Outlook template. And joegz is correct you must create a plain text mail message.

Yes that was it. Plain text was the trick not HTML. My goof I knew it had to be a Template OFT file not draft.
