Auto-reloading custom control

Hi everyone,

I've got a composite custom control that displays time-sensitive information (stock data), and I'd like to have them auto-refresh the controls themselves could be reloaded, WITHOUT having to reload the parent page they reside in.

I've tried <META> tags or authoring/registering client-side JavaScript, but it always reloads the entire page - the controls AND the parent page.

Any ideas how I could work this into the scheme of the control?
