As I shut down computer (Win ME) with auto-protect enabled
(Systemsworks 2001) the auto-protect displays a message "auto protect has detected that [no application name] is attempting to write to the user.dat file". Sometimes its to the system.dat file.
Then everything freezes -it wont let me make a choice between STOP and CONTINUE. It HAD been letting me just stop it until now (I assumed that with no name, it might not be good) but now it just hangs up.
1. Is this "no application name" file likely a virus/worm/etc? I've run a full scan and it says I'm clean.
2. How do I fix it?
