auto-numbering image captions

I am new to Pagemaker. I've worked with Word for many years. I have a technical manual with lots of screen captures. Each screen capture has a caption below it. In Word, when you add captions to images, they are automatically numbered and automatically updated throughout the document. Is there anyway to implement auto-numbering in the caption text that I have placed under my images in Pagemaker?

Unfortunately, I don't think that PM supports that feature. Adobe Framemaker is more suited to those types of projects and has more of that sort of feature. maybe someone inb the forum has found a work-around. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

viol8ion is correct. Pagemaker does not support such a feature to my knowledge either. Working with PM since PM3. Let freedom ring!

Well, I was told that there may be a way to use a paragraph tag to do it but I don't know what is meant by that. I have a friend that knows Framemaker well and hopefully she will walk me through it. If so, I'll update this post.
