I just created an Access DB to keep track of customer's complaints. My problem is that is allowing duplicate records. The complaints are telephone number related and i was thinking about not to allow duplicate telephone numbers. But if the same customers calls in regard to the same telephone number but a different complaint it won't allowed me to add the new complaints even though is a new complaint.
Is there a way to allow for duplicate records by asking to create a new record?.

Please help!!!!!
 
HOw 'bout adding in TIME OF CALL as a component of your key? Customer/PhoneNum/Date&Time should just about eliminate any dupes. It's a bit more cumbersome but don't forget you can grab the date and time automatically with the NOW() function.

You've stumbled across the main drawback to using Autonumbers as a primary key, if that was what your subject line referred to.
