Hello all, where would I be without the Tek-tips site eh?

I seem to be having a snag with my Autonumber on my form.

With no records in my table, the first entry in my form is showing an autonumber starting at 212? why is this, and how do I get my records to start from 1.

As always, thanks in advance.

Jase.

Hi

You compact the database, if the table with the autonumber is empty, numbers will be reset to start at 1.

But the real point is autonumber is just a number without meaning, used to uniquely identify a row.

In the course of use, gaps will develop etc.

Who cares at what number is starts, users should never see it.
