The requirement is as below.

Insert a cd-rom into the cd drive of an aix server.
This should automatically mount /cdrom
( how can we automate this if this is not done automatically ?
How can I check thru a script, whether its mounted or not ?)

[ do some_process xxxxxx ]

[ eject cdrom ] /* how to automatically eject an cd-rom thru script/command ? */

Any help will be much appreciated.

cheers

In AIX 5.2 there is a cdromd SRC subsystem...

"AIX 5.2 provides a facility to automatically mount CD-ROM-based and DVD-based file systems in the bos.cdmount file set. This feature is disabled by default, but can be enabled with the startsrc -s cdromd command. The cdromd daemon manages the mounted devices according to information in the /etc/cdromd.conf file. Commands used to mount, unmount, eject, suspend management, and query the status of CD-ROM and DVD devices are also available. "

what aix version are you talking about?

Is there a wayout in version aix 5.1 ?
how can the same be achieved in 5.1 ?
