We are a 24hr medical facility with an application utilizing an Oracle database. Our nurses fail to exit the app and logout during the scheduled backup time so we are constantly getting failed results. Is there an utility availble to shutdown the apps properly and logout of novell at a scheduled time ?

You might want to setup cron to clear all connections, however, you may want to also set it up to disable logins so the backup can complete in a timely manner. Which backup software are you using?

You may want to invest in the ST Bernard's Open File Manager which snapshots the file into a backup for Arcserve and backup exec to save.

Speaking of CRON.... does anyone know how to command-line unload an NLM that requires answering a Y prompt after the unload? For example, "UNLOAD x.NLM" - then the console displays a warning "Are you sure, etc.." and a Y has to be entered before the NLM unloads. I've made a couple of different attempts in the CRONTAB file, but nothing seems to work to get that Y prompt answered. Any ideas?

Thanks.
