We just replaced our definity switch with a Ip office. The Definity Switch I was able to automatically log in to my voice mail without entering my password. The pass word was scripted in the users station form. I was wondering if there is away in IP office to do this same thing with a button that I hit to retrieve my voice-mail

On my system voice mail can be reached with *17. Trough this I offer to program a speed dial button on my users phone. Typically I use something like: *17,,7321#,,5647# (obviously substituting in the users actual phone/password as needed). I find that two pauses between the voice prompts is enough for the VM system to get ready for the next set of digits. There probably is a way to do this through the button programming tab under the IP Office Manager, but I haven't figured it out.

You are trying to fix what isn't broken, and PinkeyNBrain is just talking crazy. Most IP Office handsets have dedicated buttons for VM and VM can be set to allow connection without the code, you need to tell us what handsets and what VM you have and running what mode etc :)

Your tact and decorum is bound to take you many places. We have a variety of handsets at our facility, so for the sake of your request we’ll start with a 5410. Now that you know this, can you comment on what one needs to do in order to set up VM to allow connection without a code. Note that I have some users who require a password to their voice mail (Human Resources being one) and others that do not. So in your reply, it will need to be on a case by case basis and not a one size fits all.

The 5410 has a messages button, press it. As you haven't mentioned VM type or mode then it can be a couple of ways.

If embedded or VM Pro (IP Office mode) then if they have no password set they will not be prompted for it, if they have they will not be prompted for it, but by deleting the users Vxxx entry in source numbers that will make it request the password so only do that for those needing the password

If VM Pro (Intuity mode) go to the default start points in VM Pro and go to Collect, place a Get Mail in with the specific tab set to Callers mailbox (which it is by default) then it works as the above paragraph :)

OK - Thanks.
When I moved into my current IT possition, I was handed the AVAYA system without any more training than, "Find the Help pull down menu along the title bar". Subsequently a some shade-tree-mechanic style work arounds have created (eg. *17,,NNNN# ..)

Don't know if any of this answers itech2004's questions, but I learned something today. Thanks again.
