Auto inserting OLE's into fields

Hi
I have written a database which stores PowerPoint OLE obects as file references, and I understand how to add an object into a database in the conventional sense. When creating a new record, I am looking for a function or routine that can (a) open a general file select dialogue and (2) on selection of the file automatically insert it into the new record as a link.
Am I asking to much? Any help would be greatly appreciated
