I have a text file called 05_DECEMBER_2003 which is located in the following file "C:\delete\TEST RESULTS" and wish to automatically import the text file into Microsoft Access.

Does anyone know the vb code, including the forementioned txt file, for the automated import procedure?

Ian

Hi Ian!

Look up TransferText in Help. If you have questions after reading the help post back.

Ian,
How large is the txt file, if its not hard to drag into Exel you could import the data from Exel easly and there is an import prompt that runs you through loading into the db.
If that doesn't work i know some VB code but i'm not exactly sure if your just grabbing info from the txt file on the fly.

Already looked up transfertext in the help file, tried a dozen versions however i cannot get the code to work through varying problems ie lack of understanding!

Unfortunately i dont want to go down the road of having to export the data into excel as I receive a textfile per day (named as the current day) and wish to have a system where it is possble to automatically import the data.

All i need is someone to show the vb code with the forementioned table names and file routes in the correct position, the rest i can bodge.

Hi Ian!

If you want to zip the db and text file and email it to me, I'll set something up for and let you know how it is done. If you feel you can do this, please provide as much information as you can.
