Hi guys,

We have a hp ultron 460 backup drive backing up a linux system using a tape(s) a day on a 4 weekly (manual) rotation. Recently some of the times fail to format and therefore the job fails. If format the tapes in another backup device, they will then be fine for a while. There is no pattern to this. how do we or can we turn off the auto format ?

we name our tapes linuxT1WK1 etc but then the back job formats the tapes they are renamed to "*". Now I assume we would need to create a media pool to retain the naming scheme of the tapes. Sorry all too new to arc serve.

thanks in advance

Alan

check the $BAB_HOME/logs/BrightStor.log file. See what errors the job fails.

check it from the Job Status Window or the Reports Window.

If there are E103x errors then clean the tape drive. If it still happens then get the tape drive checked.
