Auto-Format Phone Numbers to (XXX)-XXX-XXXX

We have created a new Phone number field in Outlook, but we want it to be reformated into this format: (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Is there a way to do this?

You can use this line if code

Format("8003334444", "(###) ###-####")

this returns (800) 333-4444

You do not state what vesion of Outlook. It is always a good idea when posting to give the version of the application you are asking about.

In 2002, you can:

View > Current View > Customize Current View > Fields and select the New Field button.

In the New Field dialog, give it a name, make the type Formula, select Edit and put - Format("","(###) ###-####").

And do all the usual OK/Close yadda yadda back out again.
