Hi there,

We are hosting a number of sites on our servers and now are getting DR in another part of the country. We can then manually switch over to the DR site should the main server burn down with the building - to switch the external DNS would take 2-48 hours of course to propagate - we would like to improve the time to be in minutes and be done automatically.

We would now also like use the DR to minimise downtime when we do upgrades to the main server (so for the time of the upgrade the DR would act as the main server) but we would like to again avoid the long downtime.

We asked our DNS provider Netnames but they don't seem to do this service. I looked and third party autofailover like - which seem ideal but they are in the US which is not ideal.

Can anyone recommend a reliable and tested autofailover service like this? Do you think that it's a problem if we use a company in the US. Do you maybe know the company above? Would you recommend it?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Pav

You could look at Cisco Global Site Selector.
