I think I've heard this somewhere but I wasn't sure of the validity of the statement. Is it possible to have Novell 5.1 automatically disconnect every user that is currently logged in at a preset time?
I want to do this due to some file locking issues during the backup process at night. If you can understand it, you probably don't.

What backup software are you using, some offer the facility as part of that. -----------------------------------------------------

We are using Backup Exec.
Are you familiar with this software? I assumed it came with Netware. If you can understand it, you probably don't.

Absolutely! Every user has a Time restriction Tab in either NWadmin or ConsoleOne. From the Help file: "Use this property page to restrict the times when this object can be logged in. If you set a restriction and the object is logged in when the restricted time arrives, the system issues a five-minute warning and then (after five minutes) logs the object out if it isn't logged out already."

It is built in to Netware just for this purpose.

The easiest way to do this would probably be to do this to the top most container for your users. In my tree it is "Users", then the subcontainers are underneath. In the properties of this container go to the time restriction tab and set the times you want restricted.

Just remember to undo it for the specific users you do want to have access.
