I have a credit card reader on an extention of an ASM. I need the line to automatically dial "9" when the phone goes off hook, since this POS CC terminal can't do it. . . at least easily. . .

Anyone know how to easily accomplish this?

Set that analog port to hotline to a line pool. When the port goes off hook, it'll grab an outside line bypassing the need for a '9', provided you use analog trunks in the system.

It will work

Go into:

Terminal & Extns, (Select Extn), Line access,

Set 'Prime line' to your main outgoing line pool (e.g PoolA)

This will make the phone automaticly select an outgoing line. Unfortunatly if you have any telephone routing it will not work with this method as it directly picks up an line bypassing the Routes.

Duh, i was thinking of a MICS system when i wrote that not BCM, my method will not work on a BCM.

now im completely lost -- i went into the dn, set the hotline as 9, doesn't work. tried to make the PrimeLine PRI-A, and that doesn't work either.

I tried out what Marshall mentioned on my lab system, and it worked out OK in terms of hotlining to the route. Obviously, make sure that analog port has access to pool PRI-A. Another possibility is that the credit card machine may be looking for dialtone before it will attempt to dial, in which case this might not work for you. I've run into a few CC terminals that behave that way.

Set the Prime Line for Intercom
Hot Dial External Number using Routing Table
External number is 9

Set your prime line to Intercom & set your external number to F78,F78,9 so as to put pauses so that your credit card machine gets to hear the dial tone before it dials out. You may be able to get away with only one pause, not that it will make much difference to the time delay for processing.

OK, if I do "9" it works but no dialtone so the stupid credit card terminal doesn't work. If I try f78,9 then I get a window when pressing enter "'F78,9" is not a valid option for 'External #'.

Any ideas Still?

actually, i did that yesterday ;-) they actually made it so it doesn't look for the dialtone .. but the hotline thing worked... just took like 2 minutes to actually apply... wierd.

thanks for your help!

I hope they did not charge you for this. They have a habit of billing for things like that. What happen to the days when you got a manual and you got set it up yourself.
