Auto Dial light and deleting 9 for faxes

I have two questions.

1. There is an auto dial (7645)programmed on a phone (7601) and the light is on all day. The owner of 7645 is rarely at his desk so he isn't off hook. I've reset the port and that didn't work. Then I unplugged his phone (7645) for 30 sec and plugged it back in. At that time the light was off at 7601 and stayed off for at least 2 minutes...then it was on again. Any thoughts?

2. The client has a T1 and DIDs going through their switch as fax lines. Is there a way to stop them from having to dial 9 on the fax machines? I was thinking about the ARS, but then you have to dial 9 to get to the pool to delete digits. I may be thinking of this all wrong...but hey that's why I'm here.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge!!

1. Is 7645 in DND?

2. Assign the pool to the Fax extension, and set the Auto Line Select to select the pool first.

7645 is not in DND. I know how to assign the pool to the fax extensions (11 of them) but auto line select?

once you assign a pool to a phone,go to centralized programming choose the pool button, toggle thru your choices to auto line select and select the pool button.

Have you tried removing the auto dial button and reinstalling?

AUTO LINE SELECT:

The code is *14.

In Centralized programming for a given extension it is done like this:

Cent Prog > Enter Extension (Ext Number) Enter > Touch the POOL BUTTON > dial *14 > Touch the Pool Button again > Press Enter.

PHANTOM LIGHT:

What type of phone is 7645?

I would suspect the wiring or the PORT that 7645 is using.

I looked up ALS in the feature reference. I figured if you folks lead me in the right direction the least I could do is research what you tell me. So...thanks for that!! Now I did try deleting and reprogramming the auto dial button. However that didn't work. When I went to 7645 I noticed it didn't have a red light next to a line....as if it was off hook. When I pressed a line it was selected and when I put the phone on hook it didn't hang up. With that being said it was the phone so I swapped it out for another mlx16d and it's perfect. Nice to know things go wrong because of the equipment not just programming. LOL, thanks everyone!!
