I'm having trouble with the Partner Messaging R7 documentation again. If no programming is done, and Messaging answers a call, the caller has the option of punching in an extension number and being transferred to it. So far so good. But it seems that as soon as I program a selector code of any sort, such as #1 to play an announcement, the ability of the caller to transfer to an extension goes away--at least Messaging says "Unrecognized" if I key in two digits. Is this normal? Along these lines, is there any way I can make the attendant automatically transfer the caller to the voice mail system? Thanks!

Hi OLVtelephoneman,
Don't do the 1,2,3 thing. Use something above your dial plan such as 5,6,8 or 9. Notice we didn't use 7? That's so you can dial calling and hunt groups (like the modem). You need to instruct your employees to dial '*7' when the main greeting is playing to get their voicemail. Consider using outcalling to notify subscribers when they get a message.

Well, no. If no programming is done, right out of the box there are no mailboxes set up so the caller will get "Invalid entry" (or something like that)when they dial anything. With PM 1 thru 7 there are no default mailboxes.

When you program "1" to play an announcement you lose the ability to do direct extension transfers for any extension beginning with "1". Now, I'm not absolutely certain what PM 1 thru 7 will do but PMVS will ignore anything after the "1" and just play the announcement.

Sound like what's happening?

Thanks guys--if only the manual had explained this as it should have!
