I have a MICS 4.1 using PRI, a NAM. I am trying to get the AA to pickup unanwsered calls. I can do this, however I cannot get the greetings in the greeting table to work. I have all the lines set, greetings set, times, all seems fine. Any ideas. Also is it possible to ring more than one phone on an incoming PRI. Ringing service does not seem to aply to PRI lines.

as long as you have the target line set up to be answered by aa it should be working,

Log into the voice mail under Feature 983 enter your log number

press AA

Press lines

usually when using pri your lead line number is 145

so enter 145 and set to be answered by AA then set up your number of rings.

if this still does not work go under Feature 982 spell out the word operator, and make sure the business is open and answer lines is set to yes.

let me know if this works.

Thanks

I set the target line (154) in this case which is ext. 230, (145 being 221) to answer Yes set the greeting table # of rings and it still does not use the greeting table to answer, only the default NAM message. The directory works fine, all other mailboxes are working just fine. If anyone has any other sugestions.

Thanks

Have you made sure that you have set the AA to answer before your forward no answer on 230. If your AA is set to answer after 4 rings, but your F/NA on ext 230 is set to 3, it will go into the personal mailbox instead of the AA.

The AA is picking up, however it is the default NAM message instead of the custom greeting that is in the greeting table. Also mailbox users cannot check there voice mail dialing in. it tells them that the system is unavailable at this time, all the time. A good deal of the time that system will not tranfer to voice mail (f986) but when you transfer to the extension voice mail picks up. Some time it does tranfer to voice mail. I have been through all the configuration in the book that I have however the NAM is version 4.0 my manual is 2.0, any suggestions.

I forgot to mention that if I turn the General-delivery on it ansers instead of the AA.

it sounds like your fwd no answer is set to answer before the aa is set to answer. Fwd no answer must be set to either the same number of rings or higher than aa

Go under feature 982 pswd operator

make sure the answer lines is set to yes.

What does the actual greeting say. I still believe someone`s mailbox is picking up. That would probably be the reason no one can check their messages from outside, because they`re in a personal mailbox not the AA. Hitting * before entering their mailbox password combination won`t work from a mailbox, only the AA. If it`s hitting the default AA greeting, it should still work. Have you set the lines to ring on multiple extensions? Any phone that rings on incoming lines would override the AA if their phone is set to less. What happens if you set the AA to answer after 0 rings? If it answers correctly with 0 rings on, you`ve definetly got someone`s mailbox picking up.

Your problems with being unable to F986, is probably because all channels to your voice mail are in use. What size is your voice mail?

Sorry, should have been, Hitting ** then the mailbox password combination... in my last post.

The AA is picking up I can dial an extention or # for directory, but I can not get the custom greeting to play whith the AA. Does the fax that I'm running PRI lines affect this. I have another Office without PRI and all the settings are the same (VM Settings) and the AA and custom greeting work fine. When the user tries to check his/her VM after the ** they get the message that it con not be completed at this time exiting the system. This happens when noone is in the office and I call in from a cell, I can verify that no call are on so it cannot be all the voice channels are busy. The VM system is a NAM 4.0 software. I'm no new to this I've been doing telecom and Networking for 16 years, that is why this is driving me nuts. I have check all the settings ring ect. This has to do with the PRI. some funtions of the norstar do not work with PRI. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Perhaps it needs a software patch. The NAM 4.0 were shipping with a problem that would not allow the NAM to transfer directly into personal mbx's for ringing line appearances. Instead of the personal MBX answering, the Default AA would answer. This is a known problem. Perhaps when PRI lines are used it effects it in this way. Depending on who you purchased it from it may or may not have had the patch installed.

NAM software is 4.0.4, it was upgraded from 2.0. I forgot to mention that it was hotcut from another system. I have thought about resetting the NAM but would like to avoid this.

Well, if you are at your wits end there are companies that offer tech support for a fee. They would be able to dial into the NAM and see whats up. Just do a search for it on the web. I had to call once, but dont want to mention to who here, for fear of it being misunderstood as an advertisment.

Did you upgrade w/Norstar Voice Mail 4.0.04C?
