I'm trying to set up a second auto attendant (merlin messaging/ Merlin Magix sys) for my company, and I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing. I set up the day menu, and assigned it to an extention, but when I ring that extention, I get the VM prompt, not the auto attendant menu. What gives? I'm sure that there is some way to get to the menu, and not the VM prompt, but I haven't quite figured it out. Any help yould be greatly appreciated.

Pete

Is there any way to access the menu for testing purposes without assigning it to a line? I was hoping to try it out and see if it works properly before I tried to assign it.

Assign just one of the lines to it, like the last line in your system, for which you know the phone number.

Put an unused adjunct extension in the Voice Mail Cover Group, then create an Auto Attendant Extension for it. When you call the extension, the Auto Attendant will answer. Do this for each AA that you are using, and you can call them all without calling out and back in again. Also gives you the ability to jump callers from one AA to the other.

I assigned the AA to one of the lines, and it seems to be working, more or less. THat line rings to a couple of extentions in the office, but now that I have assigned the AA to that line, it picks up on the first ring. Is there any way to delay the AA pickup on that line until the 3rd or 4th ring? Thanks for the input, it's helped a ton.

Pete

You assign the lines to an unused calling group. Then you set the overflow for calling group 770. After that, you change the number base overflow to 99, and change the time based over to the number of rings you want. Appx 5 seconds for every ring. You as well will need to create a m/b in your vm to the calling group number and assign it as autoattd 2. Ok, here is the simplified directions.

Magix side:
[sys prog]
[start]
[extensions]
[more]
[grp calling]
[overflow]
{enter unused calling group number}
{enter in vm calling group for overflow coverage}
[enter]
[number based}
{change to 99}
[enter]
[time based]
{change to 5 sec for every ring}
[enter]

Messaging side

0#
{sys admin password}
9
2 for mailboxes
{enter in group number that lines are assigned to}
1 to create m/b
3 to assign an AA to this ext...I think it's 3
2 for the AA
6 not to associate a phone with this ext.

Good luck
