i am trying to set up a trunk on port 001 to auto answer, but every time i call and hi the trunk i get dead air for about 10 minutes than a fast busy. i have never set this up before and am having trouble trying to find exactly where in the manuals on how to set this up. any suggestions ?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish by setting "Auto Answer" to Yes? More details will make it easier to help you out.

dont worry bout this one guys, i figured out that i am missing an e&m/dtmf card. i made my phone the alarm phone to figure it out. its taken me a while but i am learning more by the day.

i was trying to pull dial tone on the auto answer trunk so i can access port 002 which i have assigned to its own pool. i have a pdf of the manuals but i am learning as i go. i think i have it now , just have to get that e&m/dtmf card in the system.thanks for the reply anyway

WYREDAWG,
What are you actually trying to accomplish. While an E&M trunk card has its own DTMF receiver/Tone generator built in it may not be what you want to do. Are you trying to hook up two systems together? draw a dial tone for remote access? You may just need a services cartridge. JerryReeve

i am trying to set up the 824 so that when i call into it with the auto answer trunk on port 001 , when i pull dial tone i will dial the access code that i have assigned for the pool that i have assigned to access port 002 which i have connected to an outgoing ds0 off of my DMS250 switch. this should i would think open up a path so i can make test calls remotely. i am able to access port 002 when i assign it to a button on my phone so i figure if i dial in using the auto answer or disa trunk configuration i should be able to access the same port the same way. but i have never don it before. but whenever i make a test call the trunk does answer but i says cannot find any dtmf recievers. what is thsi service cartridge? is it a software cartridge?

The services cartridge is for MICS and it provides dtmf receivers and tone generators. The norstar handbook says that an 8X24 can do DISA with DR4 or newer I don't have the manuals to tell you how to set up though. Wait a few minutes and someone will come up on this thread with the answer for you. JerryReeve

You can use auto answer with DISA or without DISA but you will need an EM card to provide the TTR or DTMF tones. You will also you have to assign a remote package(under General admin )to the line that you want to use for remote access,if you using DISA you will have to use password, and assigned it to the remote package.

Good Luck.

great, thanks. looks like i am on the right track then. thanks for the input guys. its nice to have you guys around to bounce things off of. thanks again
