For some reason, users loging in to our domain are being authenticated on the BDC instead of the PDC. Some have said this is okay but that is crap. Does anyone know how to ensure that authentication takes place on the PDC instead of the BDC?

Thanks....

FYI, the two main purposes of BDCs are
1. To maintain redundancy on your NT network;
2. To process logon requests to offload PDC for other tasks.

Having said that, take a look at MS article # Q181171 on technet.

Is authenticating on BDC causing problems?

It is fine for authentication to take place on the BDC, what makes you think that is crap?

Boka, summed it up perfectly. The only time I could see you not wanting to authenticate to a BDC is if it's further away than the PDC or another BDC (if it's at a remote site for example).

As long as your log on scripts, etc. are synching correctly, there's nothing to worry about.
