Why is it that a Windows 2000 client can connect to our Win2000 VPN Server, but a Windows 98 client cannot? Is there something that needs to be done with the 98 client to help it authenticate? Anyone ever run into this before?
Are you having trouble authenticating to the server or does it connect, only you can't access the shared resources? Does the server give you an IP address? Does it ask for a password such as \\server\ipc$? Binks
I can connect to the server and recieve an IP address. The only password that it asks for it the one before it connects to the server. I just can't see anything in network neighborhood. When I click on "entire network" I recieve an error saying that I can't browse the network.
Right click on Network Neighborhood and use "Find Computer" to search for the server by name. You should be able to find it along with the workgroup name. Map a drive to the shared resource. Change your workgroup name on the client to this workgroup name. Set the WINS server on the client to the IP of the server. Then disable the Computer Browser service under "Services" on the server. This should do it. Let me know.
