I got rpc over https working, but only if I use basic authentication, not NTLM.

I googled this, and I see some websites saying that you should not use basic, yet others that say ntlm will not work behind a firewall.

is that right that it will not work behind a firewall, or do I just not have it configured correctly?

I haven't seen a website that says not to use basic. Using basic and not SSL on a website, sure, that's bad. Basic with SSL is no problem at all.
NTLM is a challenge and here's the scoop. NTLM might work perfectly fine from A (home) to D (work) but if the routers or firewalls in B and C block it you're stuffed. If they're not then you're good to go. It's always best to drop down to the standard at which everything is guaranteed to work because it just kills support calls.

basic and ssl are cool, thats all I need to know.

many thanks.
