Authentication for a program using the users username and password

I am attempting to get the username and passoword of the user from teh windows system to use as authentication for getting into a program that i wrote. Can anyone help me, i tried using LogonUserA in API but i cant get it to work. I am not trying to view the password i just want the program to validate the user. Thank you for your time, any response would be greately appreciated

To use LogonUserA you have to grant SE_TCB_NAME permission at the user is loggin on (the parameter description is Act as part of the operating system).
