i am trying to use SQL Server to view the database. i cannot because it is prompting me for a username and pwd. i also have sybase on my machine not sure what that means...is that the db applicatin.

for example, i when i try the import export wizard DTS of sql server selecting miscorsoft ole provier for sql server... it prompts me for the username and pwd behind the server of the data source i am trying to connect to

i am on a shared terminal and looking for the username and password to an ODBC data source. how can i find it? what is the name of the file.

i have done this before when it was a SQLNET.ORA file but this netowkr has its apps running off SQL and not Oracle databases.

Sql Server dont need any files to communicate (SQLNET.ORA) it uses TCP/IP and Instance name. SQL server dont care you have Sybase installed on the server either.
First verify do you have access to the SQL Server that you are trying to connect and its using SQL or Mixed Mode.
Step 1, you should register you Enter prose manager under an account that have access to the SQL Server.
If you are using a DTS wizard yu select Source first and you should have access to the db, if you are using Mixed mode and same user id on both serves you sholdn't have any problem. You can follow the wizards. If you are having differnt type of security between it will promt you for correct used user id and password.
So the bottom line as a starter you might want to think about adding you NT login account to Source and destination.
Hope this clarifies, if you need any further details let me know.
