Authentication fails when using IE on the server itself

I'm the admin for an intranet site. Clients access the site via their Internet Explorer browser, and Integrated Windows authentication is used.

I am trying to access the site via Internet Explorer directly on the server, but am always challenged for id/password...even though I'm logged on to that box. When I do enter my credentials, it doesn't recognize them. I also tried prefacing them with the domain\ to no avail.

When I access the site via my regular client IE, it works fine.

Checked the security settings on the server's IE install, and it seems fine. Is there some restriction from viewing an intranet page FROM the server itself? Can this be configured?

Any ideas?

Does the server have Enhanched Internet Security installed?

Thanks for the reply, but it seems to do the same whether the Enhanced Security is enabled or disabled.

However, I did come across the following MS Knowledgebase article that sounds promising. It involves reconfiguring (or disabling) the "loopback check", which is a new security feature to help prevent reflection attacks on the server. I'll be doing this next time I can take the server down for maintenance and will post back with the results.
