Where might one find the DB that authenticates the users in CE8?

Thanks

There is a SQL Server Database installed with CE.
The user ID's are stored in the CI_USERS table but the real information is stored in the binary object field

You can look at this by opening up Crystal Reports on you APS machine and pointing to the ODBC datasouce named CE8

Thanks,
I did not know that it automatically did a MSSQl db, I thought it would have given you the option somewhere. I was reading that it uses msde if you have no sql server installed.

That is correct.

If you have SQL Server on the machine where you install the APS it will ise it for the APS DB. If SQL Server is not installed, it will install MSDE and use it.
