We want to have everyone dial a code to dial all off base calls. Questions.

1. Do I have to change all the phones TGAR
2. Do I have to change all the phones NCOS
c. what would I put in the RANR feild
4. where would I find my SPWD

Thanx guys. I think no matter what this could take some time...;p

the scpw needs to come from your vendor, to prt pwd you need the scpw.. the other steps in that question.. what does the ncos and tgar do now? if most of the ncos's are, say 3, then instead of changing 1000's of sets to ncos 1. go to 87 and make ncos 3 equal frl 0... that does the same thing as changing all the ncos's to 0... the in 88 set up the aub/auth make your aut's change the ncos to 4, then go to each rlb and add mfrl to 3.. that gives ncos 3 and below an auth code.. they enter the code, makes them ncos 4, if the frl is 4 for local they are done.. i don't use tgar/targ for ac1 plus dialing, you can but i've very seldom found a need for both... unless your switch is really butchered, then that change for a few 1000 sets could take most of the morning

Good Morning John..You always come thru;p

NCOS in my switch is 0
TGAR is:
1 base only
2 base and Defense switched network
3 base, DSN, local
NCOS 1
TGAR is:
3 base, local, DSN, 1800
4 base, local, long, DSN, 1800
0 base, local, long, DSN, LONG DSN, 1800

Most phones a built tgar 4 ncos 1
They want me to give 1000 people there own pin codes to dial off base. I don't think I'll pull it off this morning. I beleive the way its set up in the switch We grab the runk out. EX dial 99 local 98 long and 94 DSN. IS the advice you gave me gonna work for this set up. If I can do it I'll have to do a little at a time or I'll have alot of mad people not being able to use phones cuz they don't have codes yet huh...

what is 99,98 and 94 today.. if they are acod's then auth codes will take the rest of the month... auth codes work at the rlb level and you need to dial ac1 or ac 2 to do that

btw you can create 1000's of auth codes with the auto-fill style feauture, just tell the switch how many you need and the length.. if your having to enter user defined numbers then it's pretty fast if you script it.. that is the perfect place for a tab delimited script

Well John they are ACOD's. Where do I go from here? Keep it simple this is an additional duty for me. I'm no John Poole:)

me either, tough problem.. you'll need to build the ld 90 blocks, new net 0 ac1 nxx.. npa etc, after you add an ac1. then build all those prompts pointing each digit string points to it's rlb.. that would cover local and ld,, the other networks could be acod 2 with spn's.. all of that before you add auth codes.. if i had that for a project i would split the cores and make my changes on the standby core.. then you can scpu's test and switch back if needed. your talking a couple of weeks.. sounds like enough fun for more them one tech
