Hello everyone,

Here is another couple of questions from someone just starting to help out with these systems (although I have written my own for previous employers). I have been doing a bit of programming for a school to fix the Y2K issue (and still need to finish it) and have two issues.

1) I modified the time through the MLX-20L and also changed most of the user class of service types in the VMS (including the operator) from 2 to 4 and now when anyone calls (day or night) the first prompt they hear is "If you have a touchtone phone please press 1" and most everyone hangs up. If they transfer to the operator it never goes to voicemail either. Also, I made the operator console (the MLX-20L) pickup for one of the lines if it did not answer using coverage on the MLX-20L end. I cannot think of anything else I changed after getting it working right that should have this effect unless it is the class of service (which I noted seems to be 2 in most of the other systems I am helping with) and it may be that. Any confirmations...

2) I am trying to change the number of rings that the system waits for anyones mailbox to pickup if they do not answer. In general they seem to be picking up after 6 rings and I cannot see anywhere (of course I have not read the entire manual yet) to do this. If someone can point me in the right direction (just the feature names or the like) I can likely find it in the manuals. If possible, I would prefer to do this once at the MLX-20L and not have to do it at every phone set.

Thank you all in advance for any assistance. I will likely post more answers than questions as I become more familiar with the systems. So far I have only spent 4 or 5 days total and am on the second system (the first had a dead SCSI drive and had to be replaced and restored from tape). I hope to be on the helping end of things soon.

You may have accidently set the "Touch-Tone Gate" to ON in the voice mail. This would account for the "if you have a touch tone telephone, press 1....." announcement.

To change the cover delay:

Group Coverage Delay Interval under Options for 4.0 and earlier

Group Coverage Ring Delay under Extensions for 4.1 and later
