Audix "System Problem" when accessing voicemail

I've got a Merlin Legend system connected to an old Master Controller. It's using Audix Voice power for Voice Mail, and has been running dependably for over 10 years.

This morning an employee was attempting to log into the system to get messages, when they encountered an error. The system answers as normal, and requests the extension number. After entering the number, then the password, the system goes silent. If you stay on the line, it stays silent for 45 seconds, then says "system problem". At that point it loops back to "Please enter extension..."

The system appears to be authenticating normally, as it will recognize bad passcodes, but as soon as any extension enters a correct passcode, they get the 45 second pause, "system problem", and the loop back to the start, which can be repeated ad infinitum.

I found one manual that mentions the problem:

Subscriber hears "system problem" when trying to retrieve messages"
___________________________________________________________________________________
Possible Reason:
A message with an improper phrase number was created by AUDIX Voice
Power.
Remedy:
Have the subscriber try to retrieve messages again. If the error
persists, follow your AT&T service path.

Unfortunately, we've been self-maintaining this system ourselves for probably 2 decades, so don't really have a vendor to turn to. Any Ideas what I can do to get this problem resolved?

We've already try restarting the system a couple of times, including restarting the Legend rack.
The system audit shows no errors when starting up.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You might try posting in the Avaya: Octel Messaging solutions or Definity solutions forums. There may be some Audix gurus there to help you.

Wow dude. AVP? Time to let her go. Get your customer into a new VM system. My last customer that had AUDIX Voice Power (working) was almost three years ago.

They need to count their blessings that they benefited from the salesman's "cost per use" model. It worked and it worked a very, very long time for most voicemail systems.

Follow up with another great product and make a sale.

I have had a similar issue with Audix Voice Power. I can't explain exactly why but there is some date issue. Try setting the date and time back a few years and see if that corrects your issue. It has worked for me in the past.
