I know when you create a mailbox without a phone in Merlin Messaging you need to renumber an adjunct so you can transfer to it. Is it the same when using Intuity Audix?

I don't know much about Audix - but it should work. Just use an unused adjunct extension# and renumber it to whatever you need. Since there is no physical phone, Audix should send the call to voicemailbox for the adjunct.

Thats not my question. The question is-Do I need to use an adjunct when using audix?

I don't understand how it's not your question. Regardless of type of voicemail, the ability to 'transfer' is controlled by whether or not the system condsiders the extension dialable. I haven't used Audix directly, but for both my Merlin Messaging and Stratagy systems, if I want to be able to 'transfer' to it, an adjuct has to exist. The other thing I've done is use 'unused' ports in the Merlin Messaging card space.

The newer Magix Messaging's have built-in "guest" mailboxes - so you no longer need to use an adjunct for a phantom mailbox. On the earlier ones you did - and since Intuity Audix is not that new - I would assume you have to do the same thing - use an adjunct as a phantom mailbox. In the newer Merlin Messaging you specify whether or not the extension has a physical phone. Guest mailboxes do not - and as long as calls are routed thru the AA - they just go to the guest mailbox specified (the extension does not even have to be in your dial plan range). I do not believe you have that option in Audix.

The problem is that there are not any available entensions or adjuncts.Wasn't sure how Audix intigrated, I 'm assuming that it will need an adjunct to be able to transfer to, from the operator.Thought I would throw it out there and ask someone who actually can program an Intuity Audix for assistance.

Here's what I'm going to try. I'll renumbered a calling group to the extension number and have it overflow to voicemail immediately.

If there are no available extensions - but you have an empty slot in the carrier - you could create a "phantom" board at the end - with extension numbering - and try that route.

I know that is an option but I'm not a fan of "phantom boards" it can cause problems down the road.I'm pretty sure my plan will work.

Gentlemen, even with "phantom" mailboxes in Merlin Messaging, you're going to need the extension number SOMEWHERE in the dial plan to be able to get there from here. Otherwise, you're relegated to dialing voice mail, *8 to transfer, and then the phantom mailbox.

Calling groups with immediate overflow will work fine. You can even set a message waiting receiver. However, if the MW receiver also has a "real" mailbox, listening to their own messages and clearing the MW light for their own mailbox doesn't keep the group mailbox's MW light lit.

If transgerring is done from an autoattendant, and it is only going to a mailbox, i.e., not needing to ring a phone, you don't need phantoms of any kind, just do a "call-answer" treatment in Audix, and it's over.
