Hello all,
This question refers to a Audix/Merlin integration.
We have an Audix R4.4 Map5P connected to a Merlin Legend R7 via 8 analog ports. About every 5 to 10 minutes one of the VM ports will ring the main console 1 time. There doesn't seem to be any specific port or order when this occurs. Any ideas as to why this is happening and more important, how to stop it would be appreciated.

If there is an extension in the voice mail coverage group, and that extension has no voice mailbox, the call will be sent to the console. The person at the other end may have hung up by then. Check the sys admin log on the Audix to see if there is an event that coincides with the console call.

sorry for the delay, just got back from the site

for everyones edification:
first thanks for the suggestions. i ended up calling Avaya (ouch) it seems, at least with a Merlin, the machine name of the AA mailboxes have to be assigned a value of 0 instead of the default 1. This prevents MWI updates to the AA stations (that don't exist in the Merlin and therefore defaulted to the main console as an I-don't-know-what-to do-with-it call).

Hello Franke,

I have recently upgraded a customer from Legend R6.2 to R7. Customer claims and I confirmed that they are now experiencing ghost ringing. I found your post and would greatly appreciate knowing what exactly you did in Audix to clear up the problem. Customer has an Audix R4.4 on a Map/40. Originally customer console was the full blown Merlin II console, and they wanted to have an 28 btn MLX with DSS. When customer gets a shot of ringing, nothing appears on the console to indicate the source. Would appreciate any input you have...thank you.

Do you have the voice ports, on one of the DSS pages? If you do, moniter them, That "phantom ringing" should show up, as an intercom call.

As I may have discussed before - could there be something on the 29th to 34th button causing this?

Lets say 3000 is your 'Day Auto Attendnt', in the Audix:

From the main menu select 'audix administration'
From the command line type 'ch sub 3000'
Tab to the 'Switch Number' field
Change entry from current setting (typically 1) to 0
Hit enter [f3]

Repeat this for the nite AA, holiday AA, etc.

Hope this helps

I appreciate all the replies. Aussie88 the voice ports do appear on the DSS field, but the operator states that the ring is so brief, by the time she looks at her console, she is not able to determine, which port was ringing. Merlinman, I will visit the customer Monday or Tuesday and check the button assignments for buttons 29 thru 34. Franke, I will check the autoattendant programming now that you pointed me in the right direction. Thank you for your input, I will keep all of you informed as to what I find.

Just a quick heads up. Aussie88, I was fortunate enough to catch the burst of ring, and noted the fourth voicemail port flashed during the burst of ring and the SA-Ring button as well. Nothing was displayed. Merlinman, I check the 29-34th button and came up dry. Franke, I found 3 out of 5 autoattendants had SW 1, which I changed to 0. Also, I found about 10 customer extensions that use to have phones but were now phantoms, with SW set to 1 which I changed to SW 0. I will call the customer to see if what I did today, fixed their problem. Thanks again.

Post the results. Mind JUST started this. It is something in the dial string, of the mode codes, that is making the Audix, call the Operator.

Well the news is not promising...still have the phantom ring at the DLC console intermittently throughtout the day despite the changes in programming in both the Legend and the Audix. Guess I'll have to throw some money at the problem, if you know what I mean.
