Audix Leave Word Calling Message? 1

I have a user in intuity audix that has a message light that will not turn off. When checking his voice mail box inutity audix informs him tha he has a "Leave word message"?

What is this and how do I gid rid of it and turn his message light off?

What is it: Leave Word Calling is a feature on all Definity Audix systems. It allows people on the switch to leave a prerecorded message (requesting that their call be returned) by pressing a button on the phone, or feature button & code.

Generally, it is more efficient to leave a message in Audix rather than LWC.

How to get rid of it: Not 100% on this but have teh user press 1 AND 0 after listening to the message in vmail, the system should dial the sending ext automatically.

In case this doesn't work, delete the message in audix. In the definity do a "clear amw all extension xxxx" and the light will go off.

"clear amw lwc ext" (where 'ext' is the extension in question) also works. Commands "clear amw au ext" or "clear amw all ext" works when you are removing a station and there any kind of message waiting lamp turned on. I've never had it happen, but I've heard a rumor that if you just type "clear amw all" with no extension will clear ALL message waiting lamps in your system. As I said, I can't prove it, but it's always nice to be prepared.

However... one leetle crucial addition. You have to have a superuser login to use these commands. Yes, I know, pretty dumb, but that's how they programmed it. *sigh*

Here's another thing. You actually don't NEED leave word calling active in your system for ANYTHING unless your system is SO old you're running a System 75 or something (and probably not even then). You can prevent this feature from being accidentally activated (which is usually the case) by removing the feature access codes from the features (change features) listing.

Leave Word Calling was originally used to help turn on voicemail message waiting lamps in old, old systems. It's not used for that any more... so I say, TOSS IT!
