Audit Object Access

Hope someone can help me understand this.

I am trying to track every time a file is accessed on the network shares on a Windows 2k3 Server and the only option that appears to have this information is the Auditing using Audit Object Access, but I am not getting relevant information. Is this not the correct way to determine this?

Thanks for any info on any solutions that may help me figure out how to do this.
